Special
Olympics Louisiana offers health, education, leadership, family, training and sports
programs for people beginning at age 2 and there is no upper age limit. There is no cost to participate in Special
Olympics.

- Project Unify: a movement to initiate inclusion in all schools with the purpose to promote school communities that exercise all young people as agents of change - fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities. Project UNIFY incorporates several other Special Olympics programs.
- "FIT" with SOLA or Healthy Athletes Program: helps athletes to improve their training and competition by focusing on overall health and fitness. The program addresses six disciplines, each is designed to promote healthy lifestyles to our athletes and educate health care professionals.
- Small Steps, Big Leaps or Young Athletes Program: an
innovative sports play program for children ages 2 through 7 with intellectual disabilities,
designed to introduce them to the world of sports prior to Special Olympics
eligibility at age 8.
- SO Get Into It: is a curriculum resource kit for, regular education classrooms, grades K-12, students with and without disabilities. Program goals are positive youth development and character education.
- Athlete Leadership Program or ALPs: offers athletes the opportunity to take active leadership roles both on and off the playing field. Athletes are taught the proper governing functions of SOLA and all the rules and regulations through various workshops.
- Family Support Network: helps families help each other. With the assistance of similar agencies families have a support system within Special Olympics. Families have the opportunity to mentor, learn and provide resources and emotional support to one another.
- Camp Shriver: Brings together athletes with intellectual disabilities and their peers without intellectual disabilities on the same team for training and competition. Each year the summer sports program Camp Shriver is hosted to build and develop skills and relationships.
- R-Word Campaign: The R-word campaign is dedicated to changing the negative ways that society labels people with intellectual disabilities. Our organization and our partners provide the vehicle for making this change a reality, but we need your support.
- "Be a Fan" Campaign: sends a powerful message that resonates with the general public, tapping into core values and attributes that everyone can appreciate.
