Acadiana Area Torch Run Route

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

Check-In at: 8:00 AM

Run starts at: 9:00 AM

Lafayette Parish, Lafayette

Run Route:

  • Pre-Run Activity:  Meet at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office for pictures and the ceremonial lighting of the Flame of Hope
  • Start:  On Main and Lafayette Street, towards the Parish Court House
  • Take a left down Lafayette Street
  • Proceed down Vermillion, take a left on St. John and a right on University in order to pass Cathedral Carmel
  • Remaining north on University Avenue (which is also Highway 182) until the Four Corners rest stop where refreshments are served
  • From there drive west on Cameron Street to Scott, turning left (south) on Westgate Road into the Piggly Wiggly (Scott Oaks Plaza) parking lot, and set up in the rear parking on Old Spanish Trail. 
  • Route passes in front of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School, Scott Middle School, L.Leo Judice Elementary, and Westside Elementary.
  • Stop at the Apallo Intersection
  • Board vehicles for the Carencro city limits North on LA 93 to Gloria Switch at the round-about.  Go East on Gloria Switch to University.  Turn left, heading north on University to starting point in Carencro.
  • Run through Carencro for about 2 miles
  • Board vehicles to Opelousas  *Set up vehicles at City Park @ Crestwell and 182. Down 182, onto 190 towards info center.
  • Get off of 182 and head for I-49 to meet the OPD,SLSO at  Bill Clark Stadium on Hwy 182 next to the Opelousas Central  Fire Station
  • Run through Opelousas ending up at the visitor's center on Highway 190 headed east.  This run is also about 2 miles
  • Travel  down Hwy. 190 to Krotz Springs to meet the north in order to run the Krotz Spring Bridge if enough runners wanting to challenge the bridge. * Note bridge run maybe Cancelled if there are not enough runners from the North and South areas.*
  • End: at the Opelousas visitor's center on Highway 190
  • Post-Run Activity: Drinks, food, music and fun will be provided by the SLSO
